WHAT DOES THE “ASSEMBLY OF CALLED-OUT BELIEVERS” MEAN?
You may be surprised to find the many scriptural references to God calling out His assembly from the earliest of times…
If you are being called out of something, you are naturally being called from something to something. If you are being called from Darkness, you are being called into the Light. If you are being called from Error, you are being called into the Truth. If you are being called out from the world you are being called into the family of God as a part of His called-out people!
The original Hebrew word from which we get the English word “assembly” is קָהָל (qâhâl). We see this word being used for the first time in Genesis 28:3 when Isaac blesses Ya’akov saying,
“El Shaddai (G-d Almighty) bless thee and make thee fruitful and multiply thee, that you may be an assembly of people, and I give the blessing of Abraham to you and to your seed, that you may inherit the land where in you are a stranger which God gave unto Abraham.
As followers of the faith of our father Abraham who was called-out of his Pagan surroundings… mentally, physically, and spiritually into the eternal truths of the one true God, we too have been called out from Darkness to Glorious light…
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.” (1 Peter 2:9-10)
As descendants of the children of whole house of Israel who were called-out of Egypt, her slavery and her counterfeit religion, and called to return to the true knowledge of God, and be reintroduced to his truth, and betrothed as his bride, we too have been called-out from the counterfeit religious systems of the world and her slavery to self-seeking sin, and are being reintroduced to the beautiful Torah truths and the realization that God desires a bride without spot or blemish to draw near to him.
“When Israel was a child, I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.” (Hosea 11:1)
Jeremiah 31:8 prophesizes that God would return his assembly back to the land in the last days saying,
“Behold, I am bringing them from the north country (migration route of Israel’s diaspora through the countries of the north and eventually on to the new world America). And I will gather them from the remote parts of the earth, Among them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and she who is in labor with child, together; A great Assembly, will return here.”
It is also prophesied by Micah that in the last days God will have an assembly of called-out people saying,
“I will surely assemble all of you, Jacob, I will surely regather the remnant of Israel. I will put them together like sheep in the fold; Like a flock in the midst of its pasture They will be noisy with men.” (Micah 2:12)
At the time of Ezra and Nehemiah, God’s people were once again called out from their Pagan surroundings and called to return from their Babylonian exile and return to Torah and the land where God has placed his name.
“If you return to Me and keep My commandments and do them, though those of you who have been scattered were in the most remote parts of the earth, I will regather them from there and will bring them to the place where I have chosen to cause My name to dwell.” (Nehemiah 1:9)
In these last days we are prophetically called-out of the false system of Babylon mentally, physically, and spiritually once again in fulfillment of the promise that God would regather the descendants of Israel from every nation with which he has dispersed them… nations where they would forget their identity and they look like those with which they lived, much like Joseph was not recognized by his brother in Egypt, until he revealed himself.
Speaking of Babylon as a symbol of the false system of the world in the last days Revelation says,
“Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “‘Come out of her, my people,’ so that you will not share in her sins, so that you will not receive any of her plagues.” (Rev. 18:4)
“Then the LORD your God will restore you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and will regather you again from all the peoples where the LORD your God has scattered you.” (Deut. 30:3)
“He will raise a banner for the nations and regather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth.” (Isa. 11:12)
Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, And declare in the coastlands afar off, And say, “He who scattered Israel will regather him and keep him as a shepherd keeps his flock.” (Jer. 31:10)
The Lord GOD, who regathers the dispersed of Israel, declares, “Yet others I will gather to them, to those already gathered.” (Isa. 56:8)
“When I bring them back from the peoples and regather them from the lands of their enemies, then I shall be sanctified through them in the sight of the many nations. (Eze. 39:7-8)
From the above texts it is clear that God has been calling out his people from wherever they are to regather them together as one people and return them to his Torah and ultimately to the land!
“Behold, Adonai has proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, Behold, your salvation comes; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of Adonai: and you shall be called out to your new name that Adonai shall name.” (Isaiah 62:11-12)
We hope this understanding has blessed you and that you will recognize yourself as a part of God’s called out people!
