As I got ready to go out for my walk this morning, Abba Yah told me to take a cough drop. I grabbed one and stuck it in my pocket.
As I went to take the left I usually take to go on my normal walk course, He told me to go right instead. I started walking a course I don’t walk very often. I got to a point where I previously had turned to head back, but I was urged to continue on.
As I was approaching the next street, I heard a man having a coughing fit. As I got up to his yard I called over and asked him if he wanted a cough drop, which I “just happened” to have in my pocket. He said, yes if you have one I would love it. I was probably 35 years or more his elder, and as he approached me with a cigarette in his hand, I chastised him a little for smoking and that it wasn’t any good for his cough. He agreed, at which point I told him I had only quit a few years back myself, but had smoked for the better part of 45 years. He said I had smoked longer than he had been alive. As I went to leave he stopped me and said that he had just opened a car wash, and if I came by he would wash my car for free.
I knew this was a divine appointment which had nothing to do with getting my car washed (although it did need it). I finished my walk, got myself organized and headed out with a hand painted God Loves You fish rock and a Steps to Christ book to give Ryan as a gift.
When I arrived at his spot, he came out and smiled when he saw that I had come. I gave him the gift and asked him what his relationship was like with the Father. He said he didn’t go to church, but since his brother was shot and killed in May he had been thinking a lot more about Him. I witnessed to him about the importance, in these last remaining days before Yeshua Jesus returns, or his own death, because no one knows the day or the hour of their own demise, of getting into right relationship with the Father through His Son, Yeshua, Jesus — not by a church affiliation, but by an intimate salvational relationship with the Creator of all.
While he and his crew worked on my truck, I got to meet his nieces, the daughters of his brother, and his mother and witness to them also. Where they go with God from here is up to them, but He has reached out to them directly, and I pray for all of them that they heard His call and respond. Steps to Christ is a wonderful book to lead someone to know Yeshua HaMashiach, Jesus Christ, as they delve into deeper seeking of Him in His Word. I asked, and they all have Bibles, now they just need to open them and start seeking Him, and He will be waiting with open arms to receive them.
Our Heavenly Father can use the simplest things to open the door for us to witness to others about His love and our need of salvation through His Son, if we just keep our eyes and ears open to what He is telling us and how He is leading us.
It would be nice to hear some other people’s testimonies of how God has led them to witness to others. Now is the time when we all need to be sharing the gospel as often as the Spirit of God leads us to.
