The Crucifixion Psalm

They nailed Him to a Cross

The fulfillment of prophecy in Psalms foretelling the crucifixion of Jesus, as recorded in the New Testament, is nothing short of amazing. This Psalm was written 1000 years before the birth of Jesus, and shows how David was indeed a Prophet of God!

Old Testament: Psalm 22:1 “My God, My God, why have You forsaken me?”

New Testament: Mark 15:34 “And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, ‘My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?’”

Psalm 22:7-8 “All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, ‘He trusted in the Lord, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!’”

Matthew 27:39-43 “And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.”

Psalm 22:16 “For dogs have surrounded Me; The congregation of the wicked has enclosed Me. They pierce My hands and My feet;”

John 19:17-18 “And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.

Psalm 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd, And My tongue clings to My jaws; You have brought Me to the dust of death.

John 19:28 “After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, ‘I thirst.’”

Psalm 22:18 “They divide My garments among them, And for My clothing they cast lots.”

Matthew 27:35 “And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots:”

Psalm 22:22 “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will praise You.”

Hebrews 2:12 “I will declare Your name to My brethren; In the midst of the assembly I will sing praise to You.”
