Many Christians wave this banner of salvation “by Grace alone, through Faith alone, in Christ alone”, but is that really all there is to our salvation? This saying comes from the Five Solas, so right off the bat is incomplete – and when we really study the scriptures, we see that the Five Solas are themselves incomplete.

The Five Solas are five Latin phrases (or slogans) that emerged during the Reformation to summarize the Reformers’ theological convictions about the essentials of Christianity. The Five Solas are:

Sola Scriptura (“Scripture alone”): The Bible alone is our highest authority.

Sola Fide (“faith alone”): We are saved through faith alone in Jesus Christ.

Sola Gratia (“grace alone”): We are saved by the grace of God alone.

Solus Christus (“Christ alone”): Jesus Christ alone is our Lord, Savior, and King.

Soli Deo Gloria (“to the glory of God alone”): We live for the glory of God alone.

The Scriptures are our ultimate and trustworthy authority for faith and practice. The Bible is the inspired Word of God, and provides us everything we need to know in order to walk rightly with God. For every Christian, this must be our first conviction, for without that, we have nothing on which to base our faith in Jesus. If we deny the trustworthiness of any part of scripture, we leave ourselves open to none of it being trustworthy, and our hope of salvation is lost.

Psalm 33:4King James Version (KJV) For the word of the Lord is right; and all his works are done in truth.

Isaiah 40:8King James Version (KJV) The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever.

Matthew 4:4King James Version (KJV) But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Romans 15:4King James Version (KJV) For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

2 Timothy 3:16-17King James Version (KJV) All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.

2 Peter 1:20-21King James Version (KJV) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

The First Missing Component: The 66 books of the Bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit, and it is He who helps us to understand and obey Scripture. In fact, the Holy Spirit – the Spirit of Truth – our Helper, Teacher, Counselor, Testifier, Comforter, Witness Bearer, Reminder, Revealer, Convictor of sin, righteousness and judgment, Reprover (the one who reprimands, rebukes, reproaches, scolds, admonishes and chastises us), Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, Prophesy and Fear of the Lord, plays an essential role in our salvation, our sanctification, and in our ability to carry out the Great Commission – verily, verily, without Him, we are not saved, nor can the bride become spotless and without wrinkle (Ephesians 5:27 that He might present to Himself the church in all her glory, having no spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that she would be holy and blameless), or effectively share the Word of God with others. The Holy Spirit is essential – He is the one who abides with us and in us, regenerates us and leads us to salvation, but He is left Him out.

John 3:5-6King James Version (KJV) Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Whenever Jesus says verily, verily (or in newer versions truly, truly or most assuredly), it is from the greek word ἀμήν “So be it; truly”, from whence we get “amen.” Jesus used it to reassure those He was speaking to that what He was saying was true; “I most assuredly am saying to you” or “do not doubt the absolute truth of I am saying to you.”

Isaiah 11:2King James Version (KJV) And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.

Joel 2:28-29King James Version (KJV) And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

John 14:16-18King James Version (KJV) And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

John 14:26King James Version (KJV) But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 15:26-27King James Version (KJV) But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

John 16:7-11King James Version (KJV) Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

John 16:13King James Version (KJV) Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.

Acts 4:31King James Version (KJV) And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

Acts 11:24King James Version (KJV) For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord.

1 Corinthians 2:10King James Version (KJV) But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.

2 Corinthians 13:14King James Version (KJV) The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.

1 Thessalonians 5:18-23King James Version (KJV) In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:17-18King James Version (KJV) And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

And on my servants and on my handmaidens I will pour out in those days of my Spirit; and they shall prophesy:

The Holy Spirit bears witness directly to our Spirit and leads us internally: Romans 8:16: The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. 1 John 5:6-8: And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

The Holy Spirit will lead us externally: Acts 16:6-7: Now when they had gone through Phrygia and the region of Galatia, they were forbidden by the Holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia. After they had come to Mysia, they tried to go into Bithynia but the Spirit did not permit them. Genesis 24:27: As for me, being on the way, the Lord led me to the house of my master’s brethren. 1 Samuel 10:6: Then the Spirit of the Lord will come upon you, and you will prophesy with them and be turned into another man. Galatians 5:16: I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

We are saved solely through faith in Jesus Christ because of God’s grace and Christ’s merit alone. We cannot be saved by our own merit, or declared righteous by our “good” works (Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;). God grants salvation not because of the good things we do, but in spite our sin, based on our faith in Jesus (For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus. Romans 3:23-26).

A critical point we must always keep in mind, is that when we accept Christ as our Lord and Savior, our past sins are forgiven; however, we will continue to sin as we go through our sanctification process, and we must daily ask forgiveness and repent of our sins as the Holy Spirit reveals them to us, which He certainly will, as we also forgive others who we see as transgressing against us.

Matthew 6:14 For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

2 Corinthians 10:3-5 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

As humans, we inherited from our ancestor Adam a nature that is enslaved to sin. Because of our nature, we are naturally enemies of God and lovers of evil. We have to be made alive (regenerated by the working of the Holy Spirit) before we can even have faith in Christ. God graciously chooses to give us new hearts so that we trust in Christ and are saved through faith alone. We can only stand before God by his unmerited gift of grace whereby He mercifully imputes to us the righteousness of Jesus Christ, having imputed to him the consequences of our sins – death, if we choose to believe and accept. His life of perfect righteousness is counted as ours, and our records of sin and failure were nailed to the cross with Jesus when he died. Sola fide and sola gratia express the teaching of Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

Romans 12:3King James Version (KJV) For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.

Ephesians 2:4-9King James Version (KJV) But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Hebrews 11:6  But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Hebrews 12:2King James Version (KJV) Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

God has given the ultimate revelation of himself to us by sending Jesus Christ,   Colossians 1:15-16 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him.

Only through God’s gracious self-revelation in Jesus do we come to a saving and transforming knowledge of God. Because God is holy and all humans are sinful, neither religious rituals nor good works can bridge the insurmountable void between God’s holiness and our sinfulness.

Acts 4:12King James Version (KJV) Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

John 14:6King James Version (KJV) Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

1 John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Hebrews 7:15 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Glory belongs to God alone. God’s glory is the central motivation for salvation, not improving the lives of people—though that is a wonderful by product. God is not a means to an end—he is the means and the end. The goal of all of life is to give glory to God alone: 1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

Second and Third Missing Components: Works and Obedience (Keeping His Commandments). Do we really believe the Bible teaches us that works are dead and the law was nailed to the cross with Jesus? We know that we can never achieve salvation through our own works or adherence to the law, but only by God’s free gift of grace and through our faith and belief in the redemptive work of His Son, Jesus Christ, on our behalf. However, the Bible teaches us that there is more that we must do than simply believe. Jesus told us repeatedly that we must follow Him, obey Him, keep His commands, take up our crosses, lose our worldly lives and deny ourselves for His sake, and that those who would not do so were not worthy of Him. He told us we would suffer tribulation in the world for His sake; however, he also told us to be of good cheer because He has overcome the world. John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

We know that the sacrificial laws, which foreshadowed God’s sacrifice of His perfect Lamb as our atonement for sin, have been fulfilled. If we are in Him, we are not required to keep them, and if we are not in Him, there is no benefit to keeping them. Jesus tells us clearly in Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. His commandments, which were given for the purpose of establishing His law concerning our relationship with God and with each other will not be fulfilled until heaven and earth pass, so until that day, they still stand and we are expected to keep them.

Is full obedience possible for us? None of us can fully trust and obey. Our carnal minds are enmity against God, so we are incapable of subjecting ourselves to His law, except through the unquenched power of Spirit working in us. Matthew 19:26 With God all things are possible. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. Romans 8:7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.

Our deeds of works and obedience are not the cause of our salvation – they are the evidence of our salvation. They are not the foundation – they are the demonstration. They are the evidence that our faith is real – the evidence of the unquenched working of the Holy Spirit in us. We can only truly obey when we are in a state of love, joy, devotion, gratitude, honor, praise and surrender to the one who has given all for us. When we obey Him in love, not because we have to (that is legalism), but because it is our greatest desire to please Him and express our love and eternal gratitude to Him, we find ourselves moving into the incredible loving, intimate relationship with our Lord, our King, our Beloved, our God, that He intends for us to experience throughout eternity. Obedience to Him becomes our joyful sacrifice of love to Him – the evidence of our salvation. If we truly desire to spend eternity in His presence, should we not be overjoyed at the opportunity to show our love for Him by obeying Him now? If obeying and abiding in Him is a challenge, bother or hardship that gets in the way of our worldly lives – if we do not desire Him with our whole being now – why do we think He would subject us to eternity with Him? He never forces Himself on us, and we are given free will to choose Him or deny Him on a daily basis. Lack of evidence of our love, devotion, obedience, honor and praise to Him as our Lord, King, Beloved Savior, Husband and Friend in life, sends the clear message that we really do not care to follow Him because the world is more important to us. We become adulterers and adulteresses, enemies even. James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Ezekiel 16:32 You adulteress wife, who takes strangers instead of her husband! Matthew 6:24 No one can serve two masters: Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word; and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

Matthew 7:24 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock;

Luke 6:49 But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.

Luke 6:46 And why call you me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves;

James 2:17-18 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me Your faith without Your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.”

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

2 Timothy 2:12 If we endure, we will also reign with Him; If we deny Him, He also will deny us;

Matthew 5:11 Blessed are you when people insult you and persecute you, and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of Me.

Matthew 10:22 You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

Philippians 1:29 For to you it has been granted for Christ’s sake, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,

Matthew 10:39 He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.

Mark 8:34-36 And He summoned the crowd with His disciples, and said to them, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?”

Matthew 10:37-39 He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it.

John 12:23-25 And Jesus answered them, saying, “The hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified. Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. He who loves his life loses it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it to life eternal.”

Luke 5:11 So when they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.

Mark 1:19-20 Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat mending the nets. Immediately He called them; and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went away to follow Him.

Matthew 9:9 As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man called Matthew, sitting in the tax collector’s booth; and He said to him, “Follow Me!” And he got up and followed Him.

Luke 18:22-23 When Jesus heard this, He said to him, “One thing you still lack; sell all that you possess and distribute it to the poor, and you shall have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” But when he had heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.

Luke 9:59-60 And He said to another, “Follow Me.” But he said, “Lord, permit me first to go and bury my father.” But He said to him, “Allow the dead to bury their own dead; but as for you, go and proclaim everywhere the kingdom of God.”

James 2:20 King James Version (KJV) But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?

James 2:24King James Version (KJV) Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

Romans 8:1-3King James Version (KJV) There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Matthew 7:21-23King James Version (KJV) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 19:17King James Version (KJV) And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

Hebrews 5:9King James Version (KJV) And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

Matthew 6:33King James Version (KJV) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Matthew 7:14King James Version (KJV) Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

John 15:14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.

Hosea 4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee.

Matthew 7:7 Seek, and ye shall find.

Many people who refuse or neglect to study, seek, learn, and listen may find themselves rejected because they have “rejected knowledge.” In these end times, it is critically important to abide in Him and remain in His Word. To stick our heads in the sand in these times could result in our hearing the most horrific words in eternity “I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness.” And what is lawlessness but a state of disorder due to a disregard of the law, His law. It is our responsibility to seek diligently for wisdom, knowledge and understanding of God’s Word, allowing the Holy Spirit to lead us in all truth and discernment; That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: Ephesians 4:14-15.

His delight is in the law of the Lord, and on His law he meditates day and night! Psalm 1:2

If I were to say, “Hands up, everyone who has a Bible!” – everybody’s hands here would go up, as I suppose that nobody here is without a Bible. But if I were to ask, “How many here, as a habit and a delight, meditate upon the Scriptures?” – I wonder how many hands would be raised? Well, I will not ask you that question, but let everybody ask it for himself and judge himself concerning it in the sight of God.

Lord, give us a Bible reading, Bible loving people! ~ Charles Spurgeon

John 15:6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered, and they gather them and throw them into the fire and they are burned.

Matthew 7:23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!

Proverbs 2:1-5 My son, if you receive my words, And treasure my commands within you, So that you incline your ear to wisdom, And apply your heart to understanding, Yes, if you cry out for discernment, And lift up your voice for understanding, If you seek her as silver, And search for her as for hidden treasures; Then you will understand the fear of the LORD, And find the knowledge of God.

Proverbs 3:1 My son, do not forget my law, But let your heart keep my commands.

NOTE: The 4th commandment is the only command of God which begins by telling us to not forget. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.” It is also the one that contains His Seal (name, title and dominion – Name: The LORD your God; Title: Maker (Creator); Dominion: the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them). It is the day He blessed and sanctified from the very beginning (Genesis 2:2-3), long before He gave the Ten Commandments to Moses.

The final words Jesus leaves us with in Revelation, leading up to the resurrection of the dead and living in Christ, must be heeded.

Revelation 2:11 He who has an ear, let him hear that the Spirit says to the churches. He who overcomes shall not be hurt by the second death.

Revelation 2:26-27 And he who overcomes, and keeps My works until the end, to him I will give power over the nations … as I also have received from My Father.

Revelation 3:5 He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, and I will not blot out his name from the Book of Life; but I will confess his name before my Father and before His angels. ‘He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.’

Revelation 22:14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.”

So where do false teachings about our salvation come from? The deception of course comes from Satan (the deceiver, father of lies, man of lawlessness, dragon, serpent, tempter, murderer, liar, adversary, devourer, destroyer, who disguises himself as an angel of light), who is doing everything in his power in these last days to, if possible, lead even the elect astray.

Matthew 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of Man.

1 John 3:8-10 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil. Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.

2 Corinthians 11:3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

2 Corinthians 11:13-15 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was thrown down, that ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, the deceiver of the whole world—he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him.

1 Peter 5:6-8 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Matthew 24:24King James Version (KJV) For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

Does the Bible tell us that our names can be blotted from the Book of Life? Read the scriptures and decide for yourself as the Spirit leads you.

Exodus 32: 31 And Moses returned unto hte LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin–; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is [the book] of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Revelation 21:27 And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither [whatsoever] worketh abomination, or [maketh] a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 3:16 So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of my mouth.

Psalm 69:28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.

There are two judgments.
The first is of the righteous, those who have endured and are written in the Book of Life, who are judged according to what they have done, for the purpose of determining their rewards in Heaven. These are the resurrected dead in Jesus Christ (those who have died from the time of His resurrection up to His appearing) and those still alive at His appearing, who are taken up. There is no judgment of condemnation for these because they are covered by the blood of Jesus; however, there is a judgment of works and deeds which are written in the other books, along with the works and deeds of the unrighteous. The judgment of the righteous takes place after the “rapture”.
Matthew 16:27 For the Son of Man will come in His Father’s glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done.
Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.
Romans 14:10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother or sister? Or you, why do you despise your brother or sister? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.
1 Corinthians 3:10-13 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
1 Corinthians 3:15 If anyone’s work is burned, they will suffer loss; but they themselves will be saved, yet so as through fire.
2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.
1 John 2:28 And now little children, abide in Him, that when He appears, we may have confidence and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.
2 John 8 Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we have worked for, but that we may receive a full reward.
Revelation 3:11 Behold, I come quickly! Hold fast what you have, that no one may take your crown.
Revelation 22:12 Behold, I am coming quickly, and my reward is with me, to render to every person according to what he has done.
Judgment begins at the house of God, the Church.
1 Peter 4:16-18 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have died. For this we declare to you by the Word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will by no means precede those who have died. For the Lord Himself, with a shout, with the archangel’s call and with the sound of God’s trumpet, will descend from heaven, and the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up in the clouds together with them to meet the Lord in the air; and so we will be with the Lord forever. Therefore encourage one another with these words.
The Second Judgment is of the wicked, those who have denied or refused to believe in and accept Jesus Christ, are not contained in the Book of Life, so are subject to the judgment of condemnation. Their deeds contained in the other books will determine their penalty. We know of course that the “wages of sin is death”, so the second death is the penalty, but their individual deeds will justly determine the length of time required in the lake of fire, their ultimate destination.
2 Thessalonians 1:6 After all, it is only right for God to repay with affliction those who afflict you,

Genesis 18:25 Far be it from You to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous and the wicked are treated alike. Far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth deal justly?

Psalm 96:13 Before the LORD, for He is coming, For He is coming to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness And the peoples in His faithfulness.

Psalm 98:9 Before the LORD, for He is coming to judge the earth; He will judge the world with righteousness And the peoples with equity.

Romans 2:5-11 (This speaks to the judgments of both the righteous and the unrighteous, Jew and Gentile alike.)
But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.
Ecclesiastes 3:17 I said in mine heart, God shall judge the righteous and the wicked: for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.
Psalm 1:5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. [This of course is because the judgment of the righteous will occur first, before the sinners are called up after the 1,000 years for their judgment.]
Revelation 20:6-15 Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.
And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison, And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
The End
Revelation 21:1-7 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
