Knowing God Through Praising Him

Psalm 71:8  “My mouth is filled with Your praise And with Your glory all day long.”

The word “praise” appears approximately 250 times in the Bible. The word “pray” appears over 300 times. There is good reason for that. God is telling us the benefits of both, because through both, we come to know Him. The more we praise Him, the more His Spirit expands inside of us, until we cannot contain it, and the more we know and love Him.

Begin each day praising God before you open your eyes in the morning, and your day will be blessed.

Psalm 103 “Bless the LORD, O my soul; and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The LORD works vindication and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel.

The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger for ever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor requite us according to our iniquities. For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. As a father pities his children, so the LORD pities those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust. As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. But the steadfast love of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon those who fear him, and his righteousness to children’s children, to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments. The LORD has established his throne in the heavens, and his kingdom rules over all. Bless the LORD, O you his angels, you mighty ones who do his word, hearkening to the voice of his word! Bless the LORD, all his hosts, his ministers that do his will! Bless the LORD, all his works, in all places of his dominion. Bless the LORD, O my soul!”

Revelation 5:12 “In a loud voice they sang: ‘Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!’”

Revelation 5:13 “Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and on the sea, and all that is in them, singing: ‘To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, for ever and ever!’”

Revelation 7:12 “Amen! Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever. Amen!”

Revelation 19:1 “After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting: ‘Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, …’”

Revelation 19:5 “Then a voice came from the throne, saying: ‘Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both small and great!’”

Ephesians 1:3 “Praise be to the God and Father of our LORD Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

Ephesians 5:19-20 “Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the LORD, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our LORD Jesus Christ.”

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Psalm 9:1-2 “I will praise you, O LORD, with all my heart; I will tell of all Your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High.”

Psalm 13:6 “I will sing to the LORD, for he has been good to me.”

Psalm 16:7 ”I will praise the LORD, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.”

Psalm 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.”

About E.J.

My name is Ellen “E.J.” Lefavour. I am a Christian artist and writer living in Gloucester, MA, where I have been living since God led me here in September of 2010. I am a painter, photographer and writer who, by the grace of God, has lived and worked as an artist for over 25 years, allowing me to separate myself from the World and walk in faith, to a large degree. I pray you are blessed, built up in your faith and Christian walk, and become an interactive participant in God's Morning. We're here as Christ's body, supporting and building each other up in all righteousness, in His name.
